Copper coil (IUD)

The copper coil hurt the first day of insertion but then immediately settled. My periods have become slightly heavier and cramps a bit more painful but still very manageable with just paracetamol and ibuprofen. I am lucky in that my periods only last 4-5 days anyway. My moods change with a normal cycle pattern, I get some acne during my luteal phase. I love having protection but not having the negative impacts on my MH like hormonal contraception had. Would recommend.

Copper coil (IUD)

More research is needed! I had no issues with my first coil, following my second baby I had one re fitted and first few years were fine, for the 7 years I had it I have bled constantly for 4 years my fallopian tubes are full of fluid and the pain was horrific. A private consultant took the coil out 4 weeks ago and literally stopped bleeding the day after, I have had my first recognisable period in 4 years and it lasted for 4 days. Don’t wait to have it removed if you are having issues.

Copper coil (IUD)

I wanted to come off progesterone injections as I know within the next 5 years I would like to try for a baby. I had been on the injection for nearly 10 years so had no periods or very light irregular ones a year after stopping. Insertion was unpleasant but the nurse was lovely and it was over so quick. I have had fairly bad period pain but nothing some ibuprofen and a heat cushion can’t help. Other than that my skin has improved, my sex drive is higher and I have lost weight. My periods are a little heavier than normal but are now regular. I do experience quite bad ovulation pain now but not bad enough to take pain killers. I like knowing that my hormones are regulating and knowing it will work for 5 years gives me peace of mind. I would recommend to anyone who doesn’t suffer with heavy periods.
