Prior to starting HRT in October 2024, I was really struggling with anxiety, depression, my moods were up and down I “despised “my husband and older children and would lose my patience alot faster than I should which wasn’t normal for me and for no reason gained a lot of weight literally over night, I had no energy and being very active with twins boys born in 2016 and my employment being very physical (trying to stay fit at the gym nothing i did worked) and really bad hormonal acne, very dry skin my moisturiser i had used for years wasn’t enough along with hair loss, aching joints and high blood pressure in general just struggling with everything physically and mentally. I resigned from my nursing job of 15 years due to my low mood and as I couldn’t function (brain fog and anxiety) properly and severely depressed and suicidal I took a year off working hoping that no longer working night shift would improve my sleep pattern and mental and physical health which it didn’t. I was constantly at the drs with all these symptoms for about 3 years had affected my mental health and blaming working night shift for 10 years was the reason and had affected me especially the insomnia and poor sleep patterns couldn’t sleep at night but would get sleepy during the day at around 3pm i was exhausted and would crash out and sleep for 3-4 hours. I was prescribed blood pressure medication (went to hospital numerous times with chest pains thinking I was having a heart attack from anxiety because I thought i was dying was told that it was stress and/or anxiety given great advice for weight loss(even though i was already exercising and eating healthy doing fitness challenges) took pain relief everyday for aching joints, tested for cushing disease and thyroid all came back negative, sadly never did the dr consider it could be perimenopause(maybe because i was in my mid to late 30s when this all was happening) so i started researching as I was concerned about my well being and why nothing was helping I came across perimenopausal symptoms which I had majority of them and ticked most of the boxes, thankfully my dr agreed and I started HRT. After starting HRT Estradot 0.25mg (i’m still currently taking this dose) at the beginning there was a bit of nausea, head aches and boob tenderness which wasn’t to bad, after about 3 weeks everything calmed and I gradually began to notice a difference in my moods I felt more positive and relaxed, no more anti depressants and anxiety medication, my energy and endurance improved, no aching joints and sore shoulder, after 3 months my sleep improved after 6 months physically noticed my exercise was starting to pay off and felt my muscle tone improving my acne improved and no longer needed antibiotics (had been taking antibiotics for 3 years daily for hormonal acne) I only get acne around when my period is due which is normal, skin feels hydrated and not itching all over, less hair loss hair feels like it has more volume and life my periods are regular and not every 2 weeks and flooding my pad, less brain fog and NO hot flushes! I have recently started on Oestrogen pessaries (6 weeks ago) for vaginal dryness which wasn’t an issue when first starting HRT until lately which has improved and feel more comfortable in my vaginal area when having intercourse. I feel that HRT has improved my life immensely and i feel like myself again and my family are alot happier too.

I have used other hrt products and had non or little side effects. This product is terrible. Why are the patches so huge. It constantly irritates the skin no matter where I put it, and I develop a rash around the patch. They are so big that I can not find a suitable place for them that will not scrunch up when I move around.

My experience has been good, but not as good as I had hoped for. I no longer have night sweats and sweaty arm pits when I wake up which is great. However, I still have waves of insomnia. These can go for 3 days.

Was put on patches and it was the worst experience ever. Gained over a stone in 4 weeks. Did speak to GP who said it wasn't a side effect. I was in a calorie deficit and exercising 5 times a week. Started hemorrhaging and ended up having a disidual cast. Stopped with patches and still unable to loose excess weight.

My menopause started after a hysterectomy 27 years ago. Day and nights hot sweats developed so my GP prescribed HRT tablets Oestrogen only which cured the sweats. After some time my GP advised me to stop taking the tablets. I gradually weened myself off them as advised but the sweats returned with a vengeance. After a few months I was allowed to wear HRT patches which eased the sweats considerably. 27 years later I still need HRT patches to control the night sweats. Recently a change of GP suggested I came off HRT as she thought I would be over the menopause at my age (69). I weened myself off again and the night sweats returned causing sleepless nights once again. I’m back on the patches ( 1 per week is sufficient) and will continue to do so in order ro have some quality of life

A positive experience. Notably this has helped with relief from low mood and brain fog, as well as very dry skin, eyes and hair and hot flushes. I'm currently having some issues with bloating but I don't yet know if this is a side effect of HRT or something else.

I’m on the 2/10 tablets and when I switch from estrogen only to the estrogen/progesterone combination tablet I’ve noticed my mood and motivation sinks. So in that respect it’s been similar to how I was with no HRT although the highs and lows aren’t nearly as severe. Still makes life more up and down than I’d like.

Fantastic. An absolute lifesaver. It really saddens me to see people’s negative experiences. I’d suffered for around 4 years before starting HRT, I’d got around 8 symptoms which were getting progressively worse. I’d gotten to the point I had zero interest in anything and that was my turning point. I’d also experienced a couple of bouts of being so so angry it was scary. The potential small health risks were outweighed by a potential increase to my quality of life and that’s exactly what it did. Within days I felt 100% better and back to my old self. All of my symptoms dissipated. After a year and a half or so, every now and then some of my symptoms reappeared so I went to my GP and had some oestrogen gel. I use this maybe every few months for a couple of days and totally accept that I will have breakthrough symptoms every now and then-it’s only natural. It’s impossible to tell if any of the negative symptoms (which aren’t many-mainly thinner hair at the root) would’ve happened anyway. Overall I’m delighted with my HRT and would wholeheartedly recommend it. I’ve also stopped taking antidepressants for the last 2 years. I’ve been on them most of my adult life.
