Please don’t let other people’s bad experiences put you off. I was terrified of getting the jaydess after reading reviews, but everyone body’s is individual and you have to find what works for you. If it doesn’t work out you can just get it removed. The breakthrough bleeding between periods was very annoying but this only really lasted for two cycles then settled down. I have noticed, however, that I am very emotional/moody the day before I get my period, which I didn’t have while on the pill. The pill did make be highly anxious and nauseous 24/7 though. So, I will happily take a day of being emotional over that! It’s been 5 months now and the jaydess it great, very very little anxiety, slightly heavier but shorter and pain free periods, no weight gain, normal sex drive and skin gets a little congested around the time of my period but fine otherwise, a great set it and forget it method.

I have to start by saying that having a Jaydess fitted for 3 years is a dream. However to be noted, 3 months in I am experiencing a few side effects. These initially included very painful cramps, which would wake me up in the middle of the night and felt like I was being ripped inside and made me cry. This eventually stopped after 2 weeks. There was also 6 weeks of spotting. Ultimately, the biggest issue so far has been the hormonal effects. Till then, I’d been lucky and my hormones had been pretty steady throughout my cycles. My sex drive would peak at certain moments (during my period and ovulation) but I never experienced mood swings. This suddenly changed with Jaydess. I feel irritable during my period, but especially extremely sensitive and emotional which is a real shock for me. I’m sticking through it and giving it another month but in my opinion, suffering through that (and having my loved ones bare the brunt of it too) isn’t worth it on the long run.

It’s all going very well. Only the womb cramps are so damn rough. Acne has increased too, but possibly that’s because I stopped being on the pill.
