I’ve tried sooo many contraceptions and this is the first one I’ve tried with very minimal side effects. My moods have been very stable, I have less PMS symptoms, my weight hasn’t changed and my sex drive hasn’t changed. When I want to hide the patch I just apply it to my lower belly where my undies would sit so that aspect is not a problem either.

I was prescribed the Patch by a Gynaecologist to help treat pelvic/cervical pain. He refused to do any of the checks required (weight/height/blood pressure). He also gave no information on side effects. If he had done any checks, he’d have worked out i have an obese BMI, which puts me in the at risk category (I was unaware of this before using it). After 2-3 weeks of using it, I suffered a sudden “thunderclap” headache, and was later diagnosed with multiple blood clots in the brain. Blood clots are a huge side effect of the patch, and it’s barely mentioned!

The patch is great if you forget to take the pill. If you have sensitive skin avoid the patch as it can cause skin to blister and ooze liquid, the patch then falls off and skin is left with a red itchy mark than takes about a week to go away. In my case when the patch did fall off I did actually get pregnant, I wasn’t aware because I put a new patch on an the symptoms I had from the patch were the same as pregnancy so it took me 12 weeks to realise I was pregnant. Be careful if the patch falls off as you won’t be protected!!
