Overall my experience has been positive in comparison to my previous experience with combined oral contraception. I no longer have mood swings or night sweats however over the 4 years of having my hormonal coil I now have no sex drive which was a big change for me, in addition to this sex became painful. On the other hand my periods stopped after 6 months to a year.
Somewhat positive mood

I recommend an IUS to anyone who asks me about contraception. It's been the best decision I've made in terms of contraception. The fit was a little bit painful, but this was a short sharp pain that only lasted for 30 seconds (and a bit of period like cramping for a couple of hours after). Since having it fitted, I have had no periods, and only get spotting very occasionally (once every 6 months ish). I haven't noticed any change to skin, weight gain or mood.

Had the mirena then swapped to levosert on coil change as it was the first line, fittings are not pleasant however to have it every 5-6 years it's manageable and worth it for only occasional spotting and endometriosis symptom control. No more heavy and painful periods requiring strong pain relief. I would always recommend. Life changing.
