I wanted to leave a review for other 45+ women just starting with progesterone only mini pill. My friends recommended it as it had stopped their periods immediately. I fell into the other category and bled\spotted almost continuously for two months. There is no warning that your period will start so I would recommend carrying protection all the time. The blood is brown and stringy or watery red but not heavy and can be managed with a panty liner. My mood improved and I found I was coping with situations more rationally. I spoke to other women on cerelle who told me to persevere and the spotting is definitely getting less frequent. My GP has finally given me an appointment for the Mirena Coil to be fitted next week, I have waited 10 months for this and I am now worried that I will go back to the beginning of the bleeding. Oh its really c**p being a woman!

Been on cerelle for years and never had a problem but came off recently for a break and periods came back as usual. Back on the pill again. I do find with this pill, which I seem to not share the same experience as others, that it really helps prevent fluid retention and aids in some weight loss. To be quite honest, I don’t have any problems or issues with cerelle. I don’t get periods, rarely I will have one day of light bleeding but will go. Skin and hair has no change, mood stays the same, libido fluctuates from increased to decreased etc. overall very good pill. However the second I started using it I developed an allergy to adhesive glues on my skin but that could be completely coincidental!

This was the first contraceptive I started, I started it just before I moved away to university for the first time. I noticed a few weeks in I was a lot more anxious and emotional but I put it down to being away from home and all the new stresses. However as time went on my anxiety got so much worse, I’d have panic attacks in public which I found really embarrassing as I’d never experienced this before. My breasts became constantly painful and tender. I had a week of breakthrough bleeding which was not fun!! The worst thing for me was my acne which became the worst it’s ever been. I used to get a couple hormonal spots around my period before the pill but since I started it , my skin got very oily and I had very painful cystic acne, my confidence was so low and even wearing makeup would hurt my spots. I went to the doctors to see for alternatives and he gave me cerazette but from reading the reviews on that I have decided to take a break completely from contraceptives.
