You have to take your temperature and do a ovulation test ( wee sample ) both in the morning then you add all in the app and it tells you if is a red day ( which you have to use another contraceptive method ) o green then you can have sex without contraception because when you have a green day you are not meant to get pregnant . I think if you want to get pregnant go for this app ! but as contraception is not very good as you hardly ever get green days and when you get them ( very rare ) you feel you can still getting pregnant also boyfriends / partners find so difficult to trust the app which it makes it even more difficult for the woman . As an app works very well and is interesting to know when do you ovulate or if you don't ovulate or if you ovulate twice but as contraception needs improvement

Coming off hormonal contraception and giving natural cycles a go has been fab. As long as you have a regular sleep cycle (waking up/going to bed within 2 hours every day) and you’re consistent with measuring your temp as soon as you wake up (easy to maintain that habit in my opinion) it’s been a great way to learn about my body and feel myself again after 10+ years of hormonal contraception dampening my personality, sex drive and emotions. You need a supportive partner to be happy using condoms on days you’re fertile but honestly once you’ve got a decent amount of readings, you only really have about 7-10 days of being fertile where you need to be careful with contraception etc. I definitely think it’s worth it to have your sex drive and personality back, rather than being apathetic all the time!!

I came off the combined pill 4 years ago and it was only until a year and a half ago that I got into a relationship and started having regular sex that I decided I wanted a method of contraception that didn’t mess with my hormones (my periods stopped altogether and I was having mood swings on the pill so it wasn’t worth it to go back on). I Found this app, was a bit apprehensive at first but after a couple of months of taking my temperature every morning, the app understood my cycle and allowed me more green days (when condoms aren’t needed). You have to be persistent with it and if you want to be extra careful, there’s the option to take ovulation tests so you can pinpoint when it is so you definitely don’t get pregnant. Alternatively you can ‘plan a pregnancy’ and it’s easy to switch at the click of a button so it’s really useful whichever you decide. The changes in my body (I’ve put on some weight and I get a day of bad period pain and heavy bleeding) is all down to my body, diet and exercise so is natural and nothing to do with the app. At the end of the day though, although it works great for me, it’s whatever you’re comfortable with and for some the hormonal contraceptives help with natural things like easing period pain or clearing acne so its unique for each person and may not be for everyone.
