Overall it served it's purpose of preventing pregnancy. But side effects have impacted me very negatively. Weight gain has put me at my highest weight even with a healthy diet and regular excercise. This had led to mood swings, loss of libido. Only positive was the stopping of periods. Night sweats unbearable

I decided that I wanted to have the implant as I knew I'd hate taking a pill everyday! My GP wanted me to trial the pill first to check that progesterone was the correct hormone for me but unfortunately a few months trial turned into a year because of covid. When I first started taking this pill I had a 3 week period, throughout the whole time taking it I had very irregular periods and sometimes not having a period for 2-3 months. I spent a lot of time waiting for it to settle but in the end decided to stop and switch methods.

I was really apprehensive to go on hormonal contraception but I am so happy with the mini pill. I used to have quite bad acne so was concerned the mini pill would cause a flare up. However, it has barely impacted by skin. Besides a few extra spots on my chin (hormonal) during the first month on the pill, I haven't noticed any other changes to it. I have been on the mini pill for almost three months now and I am still getting my period, but it is very light. The first month it was a monster period and super heavy, but after that's been v light. I'm hoping that it will stop all together. In my first month I forgot to take the pill once and that started several days of breakthrough bleeding, but apart from that I haven't bled when not on my period. I was also worried about my mood and sex drive, but honestly I feel that these have been unaffected.

I was switched onto the mini pill as I was getting migraines while on the combined pill. I really did not enjoy my 4 month experience. After finally clearing up my acne by working with a dermatologist, this pill caused a lot of oily skin and regression in my acne which was very upsetting. The irregularity of bleeding was really disruptive and unpredictable, and could range anywhere from dark discharge to a full period lasting a week. I found myself quite groggy and tired, also anxious about taking the pill at the exact same time every day. I changed to the hormonal coil after a few months, and felt instant relief to not be ingesting so much progesterone.

I first started on the combined pill when i was 5 and tried two different pills before switching to the mini pill as they made me feel depressed. Starting the mini pill i had light bleeding and spotting for 6 months straight but for the past two years i have not had a period other than some light bleeding every once in a while. The pill worked great for the first year and a bit but since turning 19-20 i've noticed more and more side effects. The first side effect i noticed is my breasts went from a 34B to an E cup in the space of two years, it has also completely wiped my libido and i have a constant numb feeling, not happy just numb and sad. The past few months i've noticed rapid weight gain and none of my clothes fit me. I'll buy new clothes and within a few weeks they're too small for me even though i'm eating healthier and less than i was last year. This has caused stretch marks all over my body even my calves. I'm currently looking at other contraceptive options as it is having an impact on my mental and physical health and my relationship with my partner.

I used to take the combined pill (I can't remember the brand) and started getting a lot of bad migraines and also felt very emotional at times. To the point where my then boyfriend missed going out with his friends a few times because I simply couldn't stop crying. I also had the same when I moved out of my parents house and in with my boyfriend...I bet my parents got the impression that I didn't want to move in with him! But at the time we didn't know that anything way wrong. Anyway, my doctor swapped me on to Cerelle approx 9 years ago now and I haven't regretted it. I will say that at times I have been given Cerazette, Cerelle and now seem to have Desogestrel all of the time (but I believe all 3 are much the same). My periods completely stopped on this pill after about 3 months which was a dream as they used to be very heavy and painful and my migraines and emotional outbursts also completely stopped. I can't comment on effectiveness against pregnancy and sex drive because I've not been able to have sex with my husband for about 8 years, but that is because I have spinal stenosis and really struggle. But I continue to stay on the pill so that my periods and extreme cramping remain at bay.

Stopped periods and was happy on it for a while. Stopped taking it for a few months after being on it for 3 years, and then returned. Mood swings, feeling low and weight gain alongside spotting/break-through bleeding all started after returning to the pill for a couple of months, then stopped taking it again.

I have used this pill for just over 6 months and it was my frist introduction into birth control. I started using it as i wanted to completely stop my periods and its worked great. I experienced very minimal spotting the first month or two but since then i've experienced no spotting whatsoever. No pain associated with it either. I have experienced weight gain, but its minimal so i can't say for sure that its due to the pill same goes for lower back pain that i have experienced for a while now. My moods are generally okay, much better than when i did have a period. overall i personally have had a good experience with this pill type and will continue to use it for the forseeable future,.
