On the whole, the mental and physical side effects of the pill which I’m using have been manageable and they haven’t outweighed the benefits. However, I am still worried about possible long term effects like depression or not being able to have children.

After being on hormonal birth control for over nine years, and dealing with the wretched side effects, I decided to get off and I've never felt more myself. I'm not happily using natural family planning and it is handsdown the greatest thing to have ever happened to me.

It was good that it was a low dose of oestrogen - I was less worried about those side effects. My periods were hugely lighter than before, but the spotting in-between was sometimes more of a medium flow (it was at the time of my period before I took the pill)
