Had this fitted just over 5 months ago. I blead continously for the 4 months, every day. Still experiencing bleeding, but not all the time now. I have no idea if I've had a period since having it fitted as the bleeding I've been experiencing acts like a period, however it does seem to be improving now. Unfortunately it has made my skin quite spotty, especially my face and back. 5 months on and i still am experiencing cramps, mainly in my right thigh/groin area, but it coincides with bleeding afterwards. On the plus side, I really have not experienced many headaches or weight gain!

The insertion was something that scared me but if i can do it ANYONE can!!! The first time I had it done I was with a really awful nurse who gave me no numbing treatment and just gave me a pelvic exam without even talking through it with me. I found that super painful so she stopped the whole treatment and told me I need to get used to it as men are much bigger! The absolute worst thing anyone could say when I was already gutted and embarrassed that i couldn’t tolerate it! So i went home, and thought about it and made the decision to go back but asked for a different nurse, so they put me with their experienced doctor. This lady was AMAZING! she explained everything to me in great detail, and gave me some local anaesthetic gel to insert myself before the process which really helped! She also gave me a smaller speculum (it’s measured on height and i’m only 5ft2) and took her time with me while putting me at ease and explaining it to me. It took 3 tries but she eventually opened the speculum fully, which was the worst part for me. However once this was open the rest happened so fast. It was a little bit of weird pressure and a few cramps and BAM it was done!! The insertion really isnt too bad so long as you have a great friendly nurse, and they take their time with you. It was really crappy on the way home, i had awful cramps and almost passed out but after a tiny nap the pain was gone! My period has now stopped and I have little mood swings (only about 3 days a month where I would normally be having a period). I definitely recommend this but make sure you do your research and tell the nurses to take their time, as it isn’t pleasant but definitely doable and over in no time!
