After taking the contraceptive pill for the past 15 years and being told it’s perfectly safe, I found out at the beginning of this year that I have 3 tumours on my liver as a result of long term usage of the pill. This week I underwent major surgery and had a liver resection to remove the biggest tumour, which at over 7cm was at risk of haemorrhaging. I’ve got two other smaller tumours which will hopefully shrink now I’ve come off the contraceptive pill. I hope my story highlights that hormonal contraception is NOT SAFE!

I began to get thrush very badly to the point the itching was excruciating. I would then get water infections which twice led to developing kidney infections. Before this pill I had only ever had cystitis and thrush once or twice and they weren't that bad and would go away quickly. On this pill, I was in a constant state of having thrush, a water infection, both. It was horrendous to the point I could barely leave the house. Nothing worked to treat it until I found Optibac probiotics for women which would keep them at bay somewhat but the only thing that really helped was stopping taking this pill and taking these probiotics. I cannot explain the impact this had on my life and the pain caused by having these conditions chronically.

Drovelis was prescribed to me as a third combined pill to treat adenomyosis (endometriosis) and strong PMS. From the pills I have tried it had the best effect on me. It stabilized my moom better. However, I would experience sudden extreme lows during pre-menstrual/menstrual period. My boobs got enlarged and tender and very painful during the first 3 months but these effects reduced to such extent that now on a 6th month they do not bother me. One of the most negative side effects I have been experiencing is spotting/bleeding outside of the period. Sometimes even for a whole month. After 5th month this seems to be getting better. Usually light bleeding starts around 5 days prior to my expected period. I have been experiencing severe cramps/pain during periods. But that has been there already before due to my diagnosis of endometriosis. Sometimes these effects do not get as present while taking the pill but it's very hard to draw a conlusion on that as they definitely persist.
