I was automatically put on the pill as soon as i became sexually active, within 6 months of this I was on put on antidepressants, of course I didn’t realise and wasn’t told the possibility of a connection. I conceived my 2nd child whilst on the pill. As I got older and became single again I came off the pill and saw a huge change in myself, I also came off the antidepressants easily and felt healthier mentally, I also felt an increase in libido….Something I lost completely whilst on the pill. I’m now dating again and looking for an alternative contraceptive as I cannot go back to how I was before. I also recently found out that the pill can contribute to the production of gallstones.

I was on this for 6 years and I was told that if I was getting bad migraines that I could be at risk of a stroke- something that I was unaware could happen and had been happening for months.

Did its job in preventing pregnancy but had to stop due to debilitating mental side effects, nausea, & markedly decreased sex drive. Felt extremely moody & anxious, random crying spells for no reason. Frequently would wake up in the middle of the night feeling I was going to vomit, very hot & sweaty so didn't sleep well while on it. Only took it on full stomach to try to reduce the nausea but it didn't always matter. Not pleasant at all.

Was great in terms of taking the pill back to back - no periods. But I ended up developing migraines and my doctor switched me to the mini pill because of that. Since switching from the COC to mini pill, my sex drive has come back.

A good pill if you want to run your packs back to back. Never had any random bleeding. This pill did give me increased anxiety and low moods. I was on it for a year previously and stopped it. When I look back it’s crazy to see the difference in my moods. I went back on it for a second time and again I feel extremely anxious and snappy/emotional. I have just switched pills, the dr recommended cilique... so we shall see if this improves things.

i started using microgynon 50 ed when i was 12 due to adenomyosis, i am now 20 and still using it. before the pill i had bad acne over my back and face, i was a bit chubby and my periods were extremely heavy (fill up a overnight maxi pad in an hour) and the pain was almost paralysing. when i started taking microgynon, my ob-gyn instructed me to keep taking the hormones constantly, so i haven't had period in around 8 years. over the years, i have lost weight, my acne basically disappeared (i got maybe 1 zit every week in high school, now i rarely get them) and i never spot. However, my mood is very low, i'm sad, agitated and highly irritable all the time and i have no libido at all. overall, it saved my life but i cant help but wonder what the consequences will be when i finally come off it

I had horrendous mood swings on this pill, I would cry all the time and get angry very easily. I had awful period pain, and my periods were extremely heavy and lasted much longer than normal. I felt sick quite often.

I was switched to this pill after issues with supply of my prior contraceptive pill (norimin 1) due to covid. Whilst I did not experience any weight gain, during the initial stages of taking this pill I suffered for unnecessary depressive mood swings and severe hormonal headaches (which did not experience prior to beginning this pill). Whilst the depressive mood did subside after about 3 months on this pill, the hormonal headaches continue to be an on going issue (I am currently looking into switching to another contraceptive pill due to the severity of the migraines). It should be noted that I suffer from PCOS and such my main reason for taking contraceptive pills is in order to regulate my hormones and period. In that regard this pill succeeded and I did not experience and spotting.

I was happy enough on this pill for about 4 years from the age of 16 to 20, however from 20 onwards the emotional side effects especially in the week before the withdrawal bleed were too much. I was crying all the time for no reason whatsoever which was very unlike me. I switched to the ring at the age of 21 and this definitely helped with the pms symptoms.
