Can’t go wrong with the good old fashioned condom. In a longterm relationship there’s not that much spontaneity to ruin anyway! I’ve got vulval skin condition so was concerned condoms might affect that but with a good water based lube I never noticed a difference to my symptoms. We used Skyn latex free regular size which fitted well, felt good and never had an accident with them, they always stayed on. Husband said the feeling was still good and only a very minimal difference. Still feels good for me too and does actually make the sex part last a bit longer!

Use skyn condoms on fertile days (use FAM overall). Much nicer than others like durex, feel more natural, forget they are on during sex! Never had a breakage or slippage.

My partner is allergic to latex and Skyn produce the only non-latex condoms on the market. For me, they are smooth and feel great. They are more comfortable than latex and arguably feel even better than without a condom. However, for my partner, they feel fine for about 10-15 minutes before they start to produce a vacuum and squeeze down hard, causing him pain and obviously ruining the moment. We are not sure if this is a sizing issue or something else. There aren't any further size options or otherwise for us to try so we are limited to very uncomfortable safe sex for him, or using the withdrawal method instead which has its own problems.

I like to use them because they don’t affect you / if you have had bad experiences with hormonal birth control in the past

My partner uses a male condom which comes with no symptoms as it is not harmonal. However, I struggle with intense ovulation symptoms that ranges from lower abdominal cramps to spotting in mucus. This started 3 years ago (age 25) and first occurred periodically but for the past year it has been almost every month. The mucosal spotting is not heavy and does not require pads. However, it use to last only 1-2 days but now it extends 3-4 days.

For me using condoms worked great and I had virtually no complaints during the years I used them.

Simple but effective. It was the main form of contraception we learnt about at school and the one that was easily available, I switched between this and the coil until I had my babies. Some men may not want to wear one but then they are not people you should be sleeping with!

I have been relying on the male condom since my 11 year old daughter was born. Works effectively for me but can dampen the mood during sex.

I feel compelled to write here after watching Davina McCall's programme Pill Revolution, which didn't mention condoms once! Condoms are a good option if hormonal contraception isn't working for you, and a necessity if you and your partner are not monogamous or have not had a sexual health check up. Even my shittiest ex was ok with using condoms after I made a conscious decision to come off the Pill, so ladies, don't lower your expectations!

Very positive. Condoms allow for me to not need hormonal contraception and keep in touch with my cycle.
