Lizinna pill
•  Still using

Having previously been on the mini-pill Cerazette for a few years I was having a continuous issue with cystic acne. After topical creams and antibiotics not working I decided to change pill and I was prescribed Lizzinna. At first, my skin did start to clear up and my acne was nothing like it was before but the breast pain/enlargement that came with it was just unbareable. I’ve stuck at this pill for 2 months now hoping this side effect would wear off but it’s still agony just to take my bra off at the end of the day. Im also really really struggling to lose any weight and my weight has actually gone up since I started this pill, even though I’ve been eating well and exercising regularly. With any other pill I’ve been on, losing weight was never an issue so I don’t think this is a coincidence. My skin is not as clear as it was when I first started this one either so looking for other recommendations now.

Rigevidon

I started taking Regivedon combined pill in order to have periods as a peace of mind I wasn’t pregnant, as my mini pill I was taking (cerazette) stopped them. The first week was a massive rollercoaster of emotions and by the end of the week I was exhausted, but this was fairly normal (not usually this extreme) as my body has to adapt. Afterwards it was a general downward slope of mood swings with very negative episodes lasting longer and longer and eventually came off it after realising. I felt like a weight had come off. Everyone is different though, they say mini pill affects mood more but for me combined was hell! Pre warning though I have had past experience with very low mood and depression so I am probably more susceptible.

Zoely pill

I was on this pill just shy of a month. I was bloating on the first day of use. I noticed the first week my mental state was horrible very agitated, flat and no energy. I did notice after the first few weeks my skin was definitely clearing up. I get hormonal acne. I had reduced hair loss (from endometriosis) and no ovulation pain. 3rd week in I started to get a sharp pain in the calf. Subsided then came back worse. So decided to stop taking it all together because leg pain wasn't worth the possibility of a blood clot. Three days off the pill the leg pain completely disappeared. Definitely was not the pill for me. Cons- Low mood Low sex drive Joint pain Sore lower back Constant bloating Extreme calf pain Insomnia Nausea Chest hypertension Pros- Clearer skin Less hair loss No ovulation pain

Ovranette pill

This was the first pill I was put on and for a long time I used this and thought I was fine but ultimately it made me very low and negative. And even had suicidal thoughts which I’d never had before taking Ovranette. I lost my sex drive but it made my periods lighter but last longer. As soon as I came off this I instantly felt like a cloud had lifted and felt happy and positive again it was amazing coming off this pill for me.

Gedarel 30/150 pill

I have been on Gederal coming up to a year now and it’s been great so far. Moods have been positive, if anything it’s lifted my mood and cleared my skin completely. Periods are regular and period cramps are very light. Only negative I’ve noticed is it’s made me slightly more anxious around my period and possibly put a bit of weight on but can’t 100% tell on that.

Gedarel 30/150 pill

I didn’t realise until I came off this but Overanette made me feel very low, and it was hard to get out of the negative hole I was in, where as before taking this I was very positive and never had any suicidal thoughts which I had on this pill. I was on this for a while thinking it was just how I was, down a lot and not motivated. Lost my sex drive completely. I came off and instantly it was like a cloud lifted and I felt so much better.

i haven't been taking this pill for too long, but my hormones feel much more balanced and i feel overall more positive. the only thing is that my skin has started to breakout, but this could be because of stress as it's only on my forehead.

Drovelis pill

I started taking drovelis on day one of my last period, and since then I haven't stopped bleeding, it is not spotting, I am leading every day like I'm on my period (or more). I actually was searching for the opposite, lighter easier periods. I have read in other forums it should stop after few months! I will give it a try but I am going crazy now. Other effects I have noticed: period-like cramps, tender breasts and in general I have the feeling I changed from having a horrible period week, to a 3 week period!

Eloine pill

This pill worked very well for me for many years during adolescence (brand name Yasminelle in EU) and for the year that I turned thirty (brand name Eloine in UK). I had the Kyleena coil in the years in between for reasons of convenience. I had some spotting in the beginning but it was well worth the wait due to the benefits. It has helped me with managing symptoms of endometriosis for many years, and probably also masked them during adolescence. My doctor recommended me to skip the pill breaks which was great in reducing endometriosis pains and gave me back my energy to go about life and even workouts. Unfortunately, I had to switch methods out of precaution due to having experienced a few migraines with an aura.

Microgynon 30 pill

I used Microgynon for several years, as advised by my GP from the age of 15. I remember feeling very, very miserable at times and very angry and having a feeling of 'this is not me, this isn't who I am.' After taking the pill for nearly 10 years, I started to experience chronic stomach pain which would result in me being hospitalised every 7-8 months over a 5 year period. The first time I was admitted, I genuinely thought I was going to die. I had never experienced pain like it and was taken to hospital by ambulance. I was under a specialist for gastro problems, had multiple tests multiple times to try and find the cause of my flare ups. I would be put on a morphine drip once admitted and after a few days of tests would be discharged. The cycle repeated itself like this for the next 5 years, each time the pain being worse and eventually on my last hospital admission, blood in my vomit. I had ultra sound scans, blood tests, x-rays, MRI scans, CT scans, biopsies taken from my stomach, a camera that I had to swallow to monitor my digestion, blood and urine samples taken in the dark and sent off to a specialist lab in Cardiff to see if I had an auto immune disease, discussions on could it be cancer? Could it be another rare auto immune disease that was incurable? I had Oramorph prescribed to me at home to take as and when I had a flare up as when I was admitted to A and E each time, this is what I was given. I nearly lost my job working in a primary school due to time off and not really having an explanation in a formal diagnosis as to what was causing this issue, going through a disciplinary each time. Every time I was admitted to A and E, I would be asked if I was on any medication and every time I said 'just the pill'. I asked several health professionals several times, if this could be the cause of my reoccurring pain? I was told each time, no the pill can't do this to you, you would have pain more often. It was the suggested that it could be psychological, basically was it all in my head as tests all came back with nothing. I felt worthless. It was NEVER suggested to me that I should stop taking it to see if it changed anything. One day I decided to stop taking it. This was 5 years ago now and I have not had another episode of chronic stomach pain since. I had follow up appointments with my specialist who said 'it was as rare as hens teeth' for the pill to have caused this but he agreed and truly believed that it had been the cause of my reoccurring, 5 year battle, with chronic and debilitating pain. From being given the pill from such a young age, and a lack of education as to what is in it and what it actually does in order to work, I look back and can't believe what my body went through. Not just with the hospital admissions but with the constant bombardment of hormones that made me feel depressed, angry and at times despondent, all the time being told these feelings are 'normal' side effects. Treat your body with kindness and think about what you are expecting it to tolerate.
