Tridestra reviews

Tridestra has been discontinued in the UK. Tridestra was an unusual cyclical HRT tablet, as it is designed for a bleed to happen only once every 3 months. One white tablet which contains only oestrogen was taken for 70 days. This was followed by 14 blue tablets which contain both oestrogen and a high dose of the synthetic progestogen medroxyprogesterone. Finally, you would take 7 days of a yellow tablet which does not contain any hormones, and during this time you would usually bleed. Tridestra was a useful regime of HRT for women who are very sensitive to progestogens so can only tolerate taking them every 3 months, rather than every month. However, now it is no longer available, an alternative could be Trisequens .

Method
Cyclical
Cyclical HRT is where you take breaks from the progesterone part of HRT, usually each month. You will usually have a withdrawal bleed around the time the progesterone has stopped. Some methods of HRT have this break built in already.
Combined (oestrogen and progesterone)
Oestrogen is the main component of HRT. If you have a uterus you should use HRT which also contains progesterone, or alongside progesterone to protect the womb lining (endometrium) from overgrowing as this can increase the risk of endometrial cancer.
