Premique is an old fashioned HRT tablet which isn't often prescribed anymore. The oestrogen is called a "conjugated oestrogen" and it is paired with a commonly used progestogen called norethisterone. Conjugated oestrogen is made up of many different types of oestrogen that are isolated from the urine of pregnant horses.... These oestrogens are, unsurprisingly, not identical to those in our body and Premique is now becoming more unusual.

Method

Continuous HRT is where you take the same dose of both oestrogen and progesterone every day. It is used when your periods have stopped or when you have used cyclical HRT for more than 1 year. The aim of continuous HRT is to prevent bleeding.
Oestrogen is the main component of HRT. If you have a uterus you should use HRT which also contains progesterone, or alongside progesterone to protect the womb lining (endometrium) from overgrowing as this can increase the risk of endometrial cancer.
