I have been on Rigevidon for a fair few years now and I can honestly rate it "not too bad". It struck me when I first started on it how much my sex drive decreased - it has taken a long time for it to come back, and it's still definitely not where it was without hormonal contraception. That and the weight gain (I have gone up two sizes since starting it) are the definite "cons". However, it is not all bad. I like that my periods are very short and light (3 days max), and I like that I can skip them when I want by taking packs back to back, meaning I can enjoy my seaside holidays without bleeding. My skin has definitely improved, it is glistening now and I used to suffer from dry skin and dermatitis, that is completely gone. I do get headaches from time to time but they are less strong and piercing than those I used to get without the pill. Overall I feel my hormone levels are better managed on the pill - I don't get mood swings, I don't suffer from PMS or any period-related annoyance, no cramps, and it's easy to maintain as it's ok to take it within 12 hours of the "usual time", meaning that it's difficult to forget. I know however as I get older and overweight I should consider another option, but I tried the hormonal coil and that was horrid, so I went straight back on to Rigevidon. I would be open to switching type of pill, however I have to say the side effects get so much better after time, and I don't want to risk resetting all of that.

I took this pill from the age of 15-23 for prevention of heavy, painful and irregular periods. I had light and regular withdrawal bleeds and only two occasions of breakthrough bleeding during those 8 years. It eased my acne and spots an incredible amount. The down sides - I developed OCD and depression soon after taking the pill & am now medicated for this. I gained 4 stone in weight and was recently diagnosed with borderline hypothyroidism, thought to be influenced by long-term pill use. My libido decreased massively and I would develop thrush monthly. Overall, it works well for regulating periods, but can have so many negative impacts, so it’s worth looking at others before settling with the pill! X

Initially I felt great and thought it was working for me! Continued with the recommended 3 months and by the end my skin was horrendous with terrible acne which is a shame as my mood improved a lot whilst on this pill but had to try something different to improve my skin!

Had a bad experience on this pill, was switched to it by GP without them telling me, when I asked them about it they told me it was the same as microgynon however after about 3 months I noticed I started to get really bad vaginal pain during sex (felt like it completely swelled shut). After many investigations and GP appointments with them repeatedly telling me its exactly the same as microgynon, a year later one GP listened and agreed to change me back, after a couple of months all back to normal and haven't had this problem since so convinced it must be that!

Never had bleeding on this contraception and was told I could take it without a break which worked well for me. Had absolutely no sex drive however and pretty low mood and anxiety which all got significantly better after stopping

First contraception I've tried, personally this one wasn't for me. The first month of taking it started having very heavy nose bleeds although they seemed to stop after 2 months, my blood pressure is way too high and it made me feel dizzy and I ended up with loads of headaches

i didn’t really experience many physical symptoms like pills i’ve took in the past (such as levest etc) but it definitely took a massive toll on my mental health. I cry multiple times a day for no reason, and feel utterly depressed. i’m currently looking to change pills but i wouldn’t reccomend.

I heard lots of bad experiences with rigevidon but personally i havent had any major issues with it. I cannot take packs back to back for more than 2 months or i end up getting constant bleeding however when i do take a break the amount of bleeding is less than it would usually be. I dont think this pill has improved cramping however as its not as often anymore it is now more manageable.

Was given Rigevidon as a replacement for my microgynon 30 combined pill due to the pharmacy having run out. Within days of taking it I had "extreme" anxiety, chest felt tight and I was crying for literally no reason at all. I had never had anxiety before. As soon as I stopped taking this pill and switched back to microgynon the symptoms stopped. Although "technically" the two brands contain exactly the same hormones and amounts of each hormone - the quality control limits however are 80-125%. As we know everyone responds differently to hormone changes so even this small change in hormone levels for me changed my symptoms.

The first pill I went on at 15, tried it for 7 months and they were the worst 7 months I could have possibly had. No exaggeration here, I have never in my life felt so depressed and hopeless after a few months on this pill. I also gained weight. athe only pros (which is why I went on it) was that it made my acne a bit better and made my periods lighter. but it wasn't worth the mental stress I went through
