I have been on multiple combined pills for 16 years. I recently switched to Norimin as my previous pill was no longer suitable. As I’ve been on so many different pills I’ve learned the first 3 months are always an adjustment. With Norimin I experienced increased night sweats, very low mood and anxiety. I kept pushing through and now I am on it for 6 months. The mood swings have lifted and my period is lighter and less painful. I didn’t find any major difference to my libido but maybe a slight increase. I have found I get a lot more spots around my period although I have taken up long distance running so this may also be a cause. I have had an increase in discharge although nothing uncomfortable or unusual just more of it. I have PCOS so was put in the pill 16 years ago to deal with it. This will be the last pill I will be on as I plan to come off in the next 1-2 years to start a family.

This was my first experience of a contraceptive pill as a young adult. As I did not know any better, I put up with the terrible nausea for longer than I needed to. It was an awful experience.

I was previously using Mercilon after Loestrin were not produced anymore. Mercilon made me so miserable, it changed my moods made me super sensitive, I would literally cry for insignificant reasons, gave me pretty strong headaches every time I was on the no-pill week. I felt very depressed and anxious, doubted myself and sometimes paranoid. Eventually I noticed I am not like this normally and finally decided to change this pill to Norimin. All those effects disappeared, my moods are stable and no depression at all. Only downside is that the sex drive is pretty low, but I guess it doesn't affect me as bad as the other side effects mentioned before. So, I'm pretty conform with it. Apart from the contraceptive purpose, I take the pill to help me with bad acne and polycystic ovaries which I was diagnosed more than 10 years ago, and the pill was the recommended treatment for that.

I was on Brevinor for 7 years, got on very well with it and then it was suddenly discontinued. My GP put me on Ovranette and said it was quite a close match to Brevinor. On Ovranette I had really bad stomach and breast swelling, moods all over the place, periods coming on delayed. Overall quite stressful. I then booked a consultation with The Lowdown and had a really informative chat. They were so so helpful, matched my new pill to Brevinor, listened to my needs and as a result I am much happier on Norimin! I would recommend the lowdown to everyone!

Tried so many different combined pills with no luck. This one made me severely depressed, after about a week of taking this I was crying every day and feeling very low. Felt cramps a lot and stomach was so so bloated all the time

I loved being on this pill, unfortunately I stopped being able to get this in the UK and I developed a problem with headaches (unrelated to being on a pill as I came off all contraception and the issue persisted). So I have been switched to the progestogen only pill now. Really loved Norimin, felt my mood swings weren't bad and if anything I lost weight/didn't put weight on. But this could have been because of other factors.
