I didn’t notice many side effects whilst using the pill - occasional hormonal spots on my face mid-cycle and period-like cramping whilst settling in to its use. However, the hormone headache on the pill-free week is like nothing I’ve ever experienced before. No pain killers took it away and I spent 2 days with a hot water bottle across my head. I have since stopped taking the pill but would probably skip my period if I was to continue taking gedarel!

Absolutely would not recommend. I'm 17 and started taking this contraception for period control as advised by my doctor, first week in everything was fine, I have quite a bit of abdominal cramping but I was assured it was normal. Second week in I have had nonstop panic attack and related symptoms, my mood had been the lowest ever and I just felt awful. Third and fourth week (current) I've been bleeding, lightly, for a total of 14 days now and it's showing no signs of stopping, my anxiety is causing me huge distress and I can't wait to get off it.

This contraception made me cry all the time and made my moods incredibly low. As soon as I stopped taking it I instantly felt better and back to myself. Would not recommend!

Although I definitely had lighter and less painful periods I had unbearable migraines. They stopped immediately when I stopped taking this pill so I’m switching to the mini pill as I’ve not had migraine issues on that before.

Would not recommend !! this was the 2nd pill I tried as the first Rivedgon gave me headaches. Cause terrible depression. Started to cry at everything, dark thoughts, never suffered with anything like this before taking

This pill was great for the first two years as I wasn’t having any of the external side-effects of previous pills I’d tried (weight gain and acne mainly). But in the last year or so, my moods have started to plummet and I’ve experienced a lot of anxiety and depression which worsens in sync with my monthly cycle. I just don’t get excited for anything anymore, my baseline mood is so low. I’m now looking at switching to a different form of contraception which will hopefully have less of a negative effect on my moods.

Its been okay so far, coming to the end of the first month. Definitely noticed breast tenderness and they have grown. Also, i feel a lot more emotional, think its made me quite a bit more negative and have a lot more mood swings

So much back ache and pelvic cramps!! Spotting which I’ve never experienced from any other pill too!

I started taking this contraceptive to reduce my period pain and improve acne, but after three months, there were no changes that I could notice with either of these. However, I found myself much more irritable during the second half of the pill cycle than I was before I started taking it. I also had increased cramping before the bleeding started, a general flatter mood and headaches and nausea that I never usually experienced before. My body shape has also changed and have put on a bit of weight but I'm not sure if this is linked.
