I loved this pill and really wanted to stay on it, it was great for my mood and pms and my skin cleared up beautifully but a few months in I developed quite severe ibs symptoms that became intolerable. As soon as I stopped this pill they went away completely. I'm so sad as I liked everything else about this pill.

After being pill free for years and managing severe PMS in other ways, I decided to go back on the pill as I was in a new relationship. I experienced low moods towards the end of my cycle when I will pill free but also experienced real highs and pangs of high sex drive. This pill really does “flatten” my mood. I still get a little down, tired, achy with brain fog toward end of cycle. But I don’t get any highs or sex drive. I’m very flat on this pill, I could take or leave most things. I tried to come off this pill, but the breast pain and nipple soreness was outrageous so went back on!

This pill was prescribed to me to help with PMDD symptoms. After a week it caused me to begin having extremely severe panic attacks during which I couldn’t breathe and experienced worrying limb numbness. I didn’t sleep for a week and stopped taking it straight away. Worst experience of my life!

Dr Fran recommended this pill as an option to help me manage my pain levels without affecting my mental health. I have suspected endometriosis and some significant mental health issues too. Prior to trying this pill, I was at my wits end. I was in severe pain every day with frequent flare ups leaving me stuck in bed or throwing up for hours on end. I’d tried a few GP prescribed pills which had been devastating for my mental and physical health. My appointment with Dr Fran was a last attempt to try hormonal methods of management. Overall the experience has been positive. Dr Fran recommended I take the pill continuously for as long as my body could tolerate to a maximum of three months. Half way through month two I had break through bleeding for a few days so took a 4 day pill break. I’m now trialling a two month continuous cycle with a 4 day break. I can definitely feel period like symptoms as my hormone levels change. And I can tell when my body needs a break - my endometriosis symptoms push back through but after a break they abate again. It’ll take some playing around with to get it right but I feel positive that this could be a long term solution to improve my quality of life. Side effects have occurred but nothing significant really. I’ve definitely had a slightly lower libido. Otherwise I’ve noted some vaginal dryness/soreness. This seems to be easing up now I’m into my 4th (ish) month of taking this pill. The only side effect that is proving to be quite a problem for me is hormonal mouth ulcers/mouth soreness. This has never been a problem for me until now so has most definitely been brought on by this pill. They seem to occur mid-way through each packet but do stick around for a good week or two so it feels like I have them a lot. They are rather painful and nothing really helps to get rid of them quickly or to relive the pain. I am hoping this will also abate once I settle into a routine with how I take this pill. I plan on booking an appointment to discuss it and get some further advice. Compared to the pain I was in, this is minor but it is starting to get me down. My mental health has actually been more stable on this pill which was unexpected! I haven’t gained any weight despite having more of an appetite. I actually think I’ve lost a little weight. Regardless, I actually feel better about my body than I have in years. I’m recovered from anorexia and have avoided looking at myself for years. Since being on this pill I seem to see my body differently and have way more positive days than negative. I do get bloated still but not as often as I did. Planning to keep going with this pill - huge thank you to Dr Fran for validating my pain and making me feel like I was worth listening to.

I’ve been taking Eloine for 5 months now after having bad experiences with the mini pill (non stop bleeding) and Rigevidon (made me miserable). Although I had some breakthrough bleeding the first few months, that has now stopped and I have noticed no other side effects. I mainly started taking the pill to help with painful periods, and have experienced nothing more than mild discomfort whilst on Eloine.

I suffer from PMDD which has become worse in recent years so decided to try the combined pill again to manage this as this is the only thing that has helped in the past (the mini-pill made things 1000x worse). After extensive research in the better options for those with PMS and PMDD I decided to try eloine, due to the lower oestrogen in comparison to other combined pills, and anti-androgenic properties. When I first started taking this pill, I noticed good improvements in terms of less body hair growth, acne reduced and controlled the horrific mood swings and depression I used to get in the 2 weeks leading up to my period due. My breasts were tender and enlarged for the first couple of months which soon settled. In the first few months I had recurring thrush which was difficult to control, however this since settled. Had night sweats since starting which dis not settle, however I could live with this. Breakthrough bleeding happened most months, especially when starting a new strip without taking a break (recommended for PMDD) Been having major issues with eloine for the past couple of months however, now stopped taking to see if symptoms improve. My sex drive was poor since starting, however it got to the point where it was non-existant. The breakthrough bleeding and bleeding after finishing a strip had become unbearable- much heavier bleeding in comparison to having normal periods prior to contraception, and cramps were much worse. The bleeding would be very heavy for up to 4 days before settling and becoming lighter in comparison to the 2 days it would last with a normal period. I would also pass large clots at times which were quite alarming. It had got the the point where I have become anaemic and decided to draw the line here and stop taking. My mood had also become much worse in terms of irritability and depression. Although this pill was useful in terms of reducing and slowing growth of body hair, it has had a negative effect on my head hair. I have always had very thick hair however since starting eloine I started losing a great deal of hair, and it is now noticeably thinner which has devastated me (granted, the anaemia probably isn't helping this matter although hair loss has been ongoing since starting the pill). It's a shame as the positive effects of eloine outweighed the negatives when I first started to take it, I don't know why it's only started to affect me so badly in the past couple of months. If any of my friends or family considered starting eloine, I would tell them it was great in the short term but take caution if considering it for the long term. However, I only have my own experience to go off, and it could be great for others in the long term.

It's great, I don't have any issues with it at all. I choose to have a breakthrough bleed every 3 months and my PMS is very bad during the placebo 4 days but without it I can end up having breakthrough bleeds. But considering how bad it used to be without it I am grateful I found a tablet that works so well for me.

Genuinely happy I found this pill and would recommend it. Compared to the patch or the vaginal ring, it gives me no low moods, and actually makes me feel better. The breast tenderness is minimal and periods/breakthrough bleeding is definitely lighter and sometimes doesn't even occur, with no cramping, which I experienced on Yasmin.

I have PCOS and started using Eloine after bad experiences with other pills and then a copper IUD. This pill was great, it cleared up all my cystic acne, stopped my awful periods - but the headache every 4 weeks was interrupting my life, quite badly. I would recommend this pill and potentially will use it again but the headaches really did ruin it for me.

Really like this pill. Have tried nearly every contraceptive there is but it just feels like this one agrees with me! Like the fact i know exactly when my period will come because of the placebo pills
