Mira fertility tracker reviews

The Mira fertility tracker is an at-home fertility test which can detect the quantities of four different hormones in your urine and gives a six-day fertile window for each cycle. You purchase different ‘wands’ (they sort of look like pregnancy test sticks) to test hormones including FSH, LH and forms of oestrogen and progesterone. The app uses AI from millions of hormonal data points to help give insights into your cycle and fertile days.

When I bought this I did not think that it would work. I had been TTC for 4.5 years, had just done a completely failed cycle of IVF and was 39yrs old when I bought the Mira. I was diagnosed with unexplained fertility. But,I knew that I was ovulating and had regular as clockwork periods, so I thought an ovulation tracker might be worth a try. I had tracked my basal body temperature a year or 2 before and knew that I ovulated early, but found it a lot of faff and gave up after 5 months of it. I had also tried the ovulation sticks but found them tricky to use, the colour never seemed to match and we seemed to miss the window. We were doing all the right things otherwise, regular sex, eating well, supplements, accupuncture, you name it. I did 2 cycles of unsuccessful IVF in the previous 3 years. On our first cycle 3 embryos made it to day 5, but despite multiple transfers I didn't get pregnant. I switched clinics and had more tests which showed my testosterone was low. We increased this and did more IVF with PGT testing. Only 1 embryo made it to day 5 and it wasn't genetically viable. I tell you all this so that you know I had no expectations when it came to the Mira. I bought it the month after the failed IVF and used it for 3 cycles and was absolutely amazed and flabbergasted when I was pregnant on cycle 3. I also loaned it to my best friend, (same age as me) who was pregnant on 2 cycles (she has really low AMH and had also tried IVF) . We both think it's fantastic and more people should know about it. Pros: fairly easy to use. Cheaper than IVF(I live in Ireland and at the time IVF was only available privately) Cons: expensive, need to allow time to use it each morning. Need to remember to order the wands.

Would not recommend

I would not recommend this product. It's extremely expensive to buy both the device and the ongoing strips. I found the product to give too much information that was overwhelming and not helpful on a variety of hormones - it was impossible to find a correlation or trend. Their marketing messaging is incredibly misleading '80% of women concieve within 6 months' - I was not one of these women. They cannot help you 'get pregnant faster'. Products like this are taking advantage of women who are desperate to concieve. promising new insights that don't actually help. If you're looking to concieve - I suggest 2 things - 1. Very cheap pre-mom ovulation sticks that show gradually as you become more fertile each month. 2. The ora ring to easily track your temperature and confirm you ovulated and link this to natural cycles.
