I used low dose hrt whilst perimenopausal and it really helped me to feel 'normal' however the GP told me I had to come off it about 5 yes ago. I was not offered anything else and have suffered from many age related problems- very dry skin, dryness of the vaginas and vulva. Very painful intercourse even with lubricants affecting my relationship with my husband. It hurt so much that I developed a fear of penetrative sex, I felt like I was being stabbed, it was aweful, and afterwards I was very sore. 10 days ago got a GP appointment and had a helpful consultation but a very painful internal examination when the GP commented that I was 'very dry down there'. My vulva was bledding afterwards but I was given a 3 mnth prescription for oestrogen pessaries, vagifem ,and vaginal moisturiser replenish MD. I haven't had sex yet but I can feel these treatments making a difference. I find their applucators fiddly and after I saw blood realised I needed to use lubricant with the applicators. It is fine now ( it was just the first 2 days when I tried without lub). I wish I had gone to the GP earlier but because they took away the hrt I did not realise they would offer alternatives (I did ask at thectime but it shows you how gps differ, I have to say the hrt was cancelled during lockdown in an unexpected phone call, and I realise now I should have asked for another opinion/alternatives. I have been reading about dryness etc and wish I'd found your website earlier. I dont think it existed when I was permenopausal but it would have been very helpful and I will share it with younger women ( and older ones too! We have had to put up with a lack of support treatment and recognition for too long).

I had a really bad case of acne on my back. I didn't had acne problems before, even when I was a teen. As soon as I started with oestrogel it cleared up (it took 2-3 weeks). Also, I felt quite giddy when I started with HRT, so I started using one pump in the morning and another in the afternoon, which really helped. Now I can apply all three pumps at once with no side effects at all.

I was on ultragesten for over five years I started to use it vaginalky a year I also use patches everol 50 I kept forgetting my uktragesten so my doctor put me on gel and I got a mirena coil for over three years Iv had zero libido it’s impacted my life massively

Tibolone is a life saver, health recovering, confidence boosting and energetic. I told the GP I was progesterone intolerant, it makes me feel suicidal. She told me that doesn't happen in menopause. I tried her HRT with the supposed very low dose progestins, came close to killing myself. After trying three more with the same result, I refused to endure more of it. The GP said tough, if that's your attitude, no HRT for you. I pestered them until a locum gave me Tibolone to make me go away, it did, I'm still taking it and I've not been back in over a year to bother them!

I have increased my dose over a 3 year period and have found that sweet spot where I now feel the best I’ve ever felt. I accept this new version of myself and feel empowered to start to live my life again. It hasn’t been easy or straight forward, but with the right information, help and support, I have a good combination of HRT, magnesium glycinate, vit D and magnesium spray to help manage my symptoms. More people need to talk 🙂

I've had a very positive experience on HRT and it's really helped me during peri menopause. My anxiety, brain fog and night sweats are much relieved. I'm able to function in my work much better. I'd especially recommend vaginal HRT - it was a revelation nd made me feel so much more comfortable.

Overall I’m happy being on HRT as it helps with, flushes, anxiety and improves sleep The downsides I have experienced are a change in my skin for the worse, weight gain and hair loss Testogel helps with energy and sex drive The Vagifem helps with urine urgency I stopped using Tibolone due to bloating and weight gain I also experienced swelling to my lips and dermatitis around my mouth when using progesterone products

My HRT patches worked really well for the first year and I felt really good onbthem.Not so well now, feel that I have more of the old symptoms back especially anxiety and just not myself but feel that patches are helping still.

Originally started HRT 3 years ago was started on Everol 25mcg patch then after 6 months later increased to 50mcg. All was going well then after 7 months I developed unscheduled bleeding and a return of symptoms, more anxiety not sleeping aches and pains. Was referred for a scan had biopsies all clear changed to oestrogel 3 pumps then increased to 4 pumps. Took about 3-4 months for symptoms to settle. Commenced Utrogestan 200mg continuous

I've been on the menopause journey for 5 plus years now, i was placed on evorel sequi for the first 3 years and that was fantastic , recently was changed to continuous HRT patches however the gp made a mistake he gave me conti and a evorel 50 patches which made me feel terrible but also he gave me the wrong thing has evorel 50 is to high with conti, i saw this mistake myself so have removed evorel patch and letting conti patch do it's job ..i am bleeding but hopefully settle soon now I've seen what the problem was . More education is required for women I've had to do all the hard work myself and it can be really frightening when you don't understand.
