Testosterone is licensed for severely low libido in postmenopausal women, however, it may be prescribed off licence for low mood and fatigue. Testosterone blood levels need to be monitored every 3 months, and sometimes the dose is altered to get the right level. When the dose level is correct for you, you will need annual blood tests. It is important that the blood test is taken before you apply the testosterone as this may affect the result.

I have increased my dose over a 3 year period and have found that sweet spot where I now feel the best I’ve ever felt. I accept this new version of myself and feel empowered to start to live my life again. It hasn’t been easy or straight forward, but with the right information, help and support, I have a good combination of HRT, magnesium glycinate, vit D and magnesium spray to help manage my symptoms. More people need to talk 🙂

Started initially on orstrogel but found no benefit. Changed to Lenzetto with some improvements. 1 GP was not happy to give higher dose than 3 sprays but a different one was. When I asked to try Prasterone, GP didn’t know what it was, but read up on it & was then happy to prescribe. Still having irregular spotting which is thought to be related to my VA & anterior prolapse. So VA not fully resolved. Wait for prolapse appt is 6 months locally. In the meantime I’m uncomfortable still. GP support has been good, but I was more knowledgeable about Lenzetto & Prasterone & I noticed my own prolapse in spite of being previously examined multiple times. I am convinced this is why my VA isn’t settling

I started on a low dose of Evorel 25 alongside my Mirena IUD . After 3 months I was still suffering from insomnia, low mood, brain fog, anxiety, low libido, lack of energy, muscle pain and night sweats. My Evorel was increased to Evorel 50 and I was prescribed Tostran gel. Within a month I started to feel like me again and have never looked back. Tostran is sometimes hard to get and I have had to use Testogel at a half pump dose instead which isn’t very accurate on occasion. When my Mirena IUD expired last year and I was waiting for a replacement appointment I was swapped to Evorel Conti for 2 months and they didn’t suit me as many symptoms reappeared.

It took a while to get on the right regime at the right dose, but now things are fairly stable. It is just the side effects that are not so much fun

HRT has revolutionised my life. I was bedbound without it and frequently hospitalised with crippling migraines and heart problems. I was young when I started perimenopause (36) but couldn’t get diagnosed until 40 privately. I had mirena coil put in first for heavy painful periods and then started Evorel patches. I have gone form 12.5 - 100 patches over 9 months and my need a further increase. Mirena coil has changed my life too. My bleeding was so severe I was anaemic and couldn’t leave the house as needed to change my pad hourly. However I’m now having symptoms again and they are looking to add progesterone tablets to stop my periods (they have continued monthly with mirena coil) I am also going to add testosterone back in as my libido was taken a nose dive again. I wish I’d been able to get HRT when my symptoms started, not having to suffer for years.

Started on oestrogen gel and tablet progesterone. But once upto 4 pumps stopped absorbing. Went on to evorel patch and needed 1 increase now on 100mg. Started intermittent bleeding >12 months ago. Had hysteroscopy- under GA. Still under treatment / investigations. Started testosterone- game changer. Brain fog massively reduced, more energy, less tired. Love it!
