Testosterone is licensed for severely low libido in postmenopausal women, however, it may be prescribed off licence for low mood and fatigue. Testosterone blood levels need to be monitored every 3 months, and sometimes the dose is altered to get the right level. When the dose level is correct for you, you will need annual blood tests. It is important that the blood test is taken before you apply the testosterone as this may affect the result.

I was taking Everol Patches for 18 months and saw little to no improvement in my symptoms especially my sex drive Since changing to Lenzetto I have seen a massive difference my blood tests have also seen an improvement in estrogen levels. I feel I am getting “old Kate” back finally and not just want to hide indoors anymore.

Overall I’m happy being on HRT as it helps with, flushes, anxiety and improves sleep The downsides I have experienced are a change in my skin for the worse, weight gain and hair loss Testogel helps with energy and sex drive The Vagifem helps with urine urgency I stopped using Tibolone due to bloating and weight gain I also experienced swelling to my lips and dermatitis around my mouth when using progesterone products

Due to being a poor absorber I have changed brand patch a few times and also had to increase dose to 175 over time. Still not right. My blood levels are only 181nm the vaginal dryness and loss of sex drive is since having the Merina fitted. Never suffered before that.

My journey with HRT overall has not been great, I have battled with doctors for years, I kept saying I was perimenopausal and doctors just ignored me! I believe I started my peri menopausal journey at about of 37yrs old when I started noticing changes in me, I was just told by doctors that I was too young to go on hrt and basically go away, basically I was living on 3-4hrs sleep every night I was exhausted! Following the covid pandemic I decided to go down the private route, I was instantly given hrt and straight away I managed to get some sleep, the brain fog slowly started to ease! I was on a different dosage to begin with, 4 pumps of oestrogel and one Utrogestan tablet but due to the changes in recent guidelines (April’24) I have had to reduce the number of pumps of oestrogel from 4 pumps to 3 pumps and have also been given Gepretix capsules instead of utrogestan this wasn’t on your list of progesterone! I asked my doctor if I could go on testosterone as my libido had diminished! Doctor said I needed to go down the private route, they don’t prescribe it, so I went and paid for a blood test and guess what I needed testosterone, what is the point of nhs doctors if they aren’t doing their job and looking after their patients… I was lucky and could afford to go private but many people can’t…! Nhs doctors need to get up to speed and help women out, I battled for 13 years and finally got it through my own means! We need HRT… simples!!!

This combination of HRT really works for me. It has dealt with all my general menopausal symptoms and since separating the oestrogen/progesterone elements of my HRT and adding in testosterone, I've seen an improvement in sleep, libido and brain fog. On the advice of my doctor I did increase the Oestrogen to 4 pumps with 2 Utrogestan daily but this instantly gave me incredibly sore boobs, so I immediately went back to 3 pumps of Oestrogen with 1 Utrogestan which seems to work well for me. The Testogel deals with my brain fog although could be tweaked further for libido - I am working with my doctor on that. I haven't experienced any side effects from this HRT.

My first experience was private, extensive bloods and quick treatment. My testosterone levels were untraceable and this drug changed my life. I switched to nhs as my HRT was working., My symptoms changed and the understanding by gp’s is ok however I know seeing a female who’s been through it or specifically trained in it will give a whole different experience. It’s felt as though I’m speaking a foreign language at times becuase they don’t understand
