Nalvee is a progestogen tablet containing dydrogesterone. Dydrogesterone has been used in the combined HRT brand Femoston, but is now available as a progestogen only tablet. This means it can be used alongside transdermal oestrogen, which previously you couldn't. Nalvee is licensed to be used as cyclical HRT, but is also effective as continuous HRT. It has a lower cardiovascular and breast cancer risk than other synthetic progestogens. The progestogen that Nalvee contains is also lisenced for use in PMS, so may be better if you have mood side effects with other progestogens, and it can also be less bloating than other options.

Method
Cyclical
Cyclical HRT is where you take breaks from the progesterone part of HRT, usually each month. You will usually have a withdrawal bleed around the time the progesterone has stopped. Some methods of HRT have this break built in already.
Progesterone only
If you have a uterus and are using oestrogen HRT then you will need to take a form of progesterone to protect the womb lining (endometrium) from overgrowing as this can increase the risk of endometrial cancer. This progesterone is called endometrial protection.
