Femoston-conti is a very low dose continous combined regime. It contains a synthetic progesterone but it has a neutral breast cancer risk for 5 years, so could be a good choice if you are worried about breast cancer risk. The low oestrogen level means it is a good dose to start with if you are worried about flares of conditions such as migraine or endometriosis, which can occur when you start HRT. However, this needs to be balanced against the slightly increased risk of blood clots with tablet HRT which may be significant if you have a family history of blood clots, smoke or have a high BMI.

Method

Continuous HRT is where you take the same dose of both oestrogen and progesterone every day. It is used when your periods have stopped or when you have used cyclical HRT for more than 1 year. The aim of continuous HRT is to prevent bleeding.
Oestrogen is the main component of HRT. If you have a uterus you should use HRT which also contains progesterone, or alongside progesterone to protect the womb lining (endometrium) from overgrowing as this can increase the risk of endometrial cancer.

I tried Femeston Conti Ultra Low after taking Everol 50 patch and Utrogestan 100mg for around 24 months. I faired well with the Evorel patch but Utrogestan gave me horrible side effects every time I took it for more than 5 days. I started to use vaginally every 2 months for just 10 days (as per advice) but that caused endometrial issues and heavy, prolonged bleeding. After heavy, painful and irregular bleeding on Femeston I stopped HRT altogether around 6 weeks ago and, so far, feel great!
