Slynd is a new type of progestogen-only pill containing drospirenone. Unlike other mini pills currently available that have to be taken within 12 or 3 hours to be effective, Slynd needs to be taken within 24 hours - just like the combined pill. Slynd also differs from other mini pills as there are 24 active pills in a pack, and 4 placebo 'dummy' pills.

Started first day of period and bleed went on for 11 days (3 days heavy) and then stopped. Started spotting exactly when next period would have been due but skipped placebos and this stopped as soon as it started. I suffer with endometriosis and heavy periods so need the break as ferritin was constantly low. Also sciatica pain on left side has strangely stopped since starting these and only on 2nd packet. Moods are more consistent and I’m not getting as angry over the small things anymore. Overall I’m pretty happy with this pill and hoping I can carry on with it to menopause now.

I've been on Slynd (Slinda) for 5 months. I've had irregular bleeding the whole time. It is lighter than an actual period but enough to have to wear a protection of some sort. I also get mild cramps with it often. I have PCOS and I feel it has helped my acne a bit but not as much as some combined pills I have been on (Yasmin, Yaz). I had hoped it would improve my skin more. No effect on weight, appetite or sex drive. I sleep very good with this pill but I see loads of quite vivid dreams, which I never used to see (or remember) in the past. My mood is stable with this pill, however I feel like my mood has been overall more positive on the combined pills.

I have had no good experience with this pill. I have. Period every 1 to 2 weeks extremely heavy and clot filled, causing me to not be able to go about normal everyday life. I cant plan for anything. I am losing milk as I'm breastfeeding. Overall this medicine has made my overall quality of life horrible. I'm always weak nauseous bloated in the bathroom as this pill is causing a period more so often than less. I have had 27 period in the past year. Please help

I was on Slynd for a year. I didn’t have a period after 2 months using but spotting could last up to 10 days a months, which didn’t get better with time. Regarding mood, it was amazing, especially noticed after coming off it. It seemed to stabilise me, since my low mood is most often related to my cycle. Diuretic effect was quite noticeable in my case, no water retention!! But no changes in weight. Overall, loved it, but the spotting became a bit tiresome.

I had pelvic pain while on this pill and I had to undergo a bunch of tests as my doctor didnt know what was causing the pain. The pain gradually stopped when i stopped taking the pill (it took about 3 months). The pill gave me bad acne, mood swings (I was going mad!), i had my period once in 3 months and maybe it was just some spotting... i was sometimes very dizzy and my heart was racing even if I was just watching TV. This pill really scared me and I had to stop.

I’m taking Slynd to treat Endometriosis symptoms. Overall I’m satisfied - I’m having much less pain and am bleeding a lot less than before. Also my migraines seem to have disappeared completely since I’m on this pill! The one negative though is the constant spotting. The first months I had constant spotting/breakthrough bleeding. Then it got better for a few months - I only spotted for a few days every 45 days or so. But now I seem to be back to bleeding/spotting pretty much all the time again (and I’ve been on this for 2 years now!). Definitely annoying but I’ll stick with it for a while longer to see if it gets better again.

I was on Slynd for 2.5 years, starting from my 6-week postpartum appointment. Unlike other hormonal birth control methods, it didn't cause any bloating or weight gain. Breakthrough bleeding was common for the first 3 months. Periods were irregular, very light and sometimes absent. Irritability and loss of libido were intense throughout, hence I stopped taking it.

I was recommended this pill to help with migraines. It didn’t really have any effect on migraines for me but I had a lot of other side effects. Vaginal dryness, low mood, low sex drive were some. I’m not 100% sure if it was related or if it’s a coincidence but my teeth were very sensitive the whole time I was on this pill too.

I began this medication at 5 weeks postpartum to prevent pregnancy while breast feeding. I was experiencing brain fog, terrible memory, complete loss of sex drive… Initially I wrote these off as part of the postpartum experience but over a year later and these symptoms were worsening and new side effects like weight gain were developing. I’ve decided to go off the pill entirely at this point.
