I was prescribed Dianette for 3 months. But I stopped that in two weeks time. Yes my skin started to improve. I felt very funny feeling during the medication like vomiting , tired and chest pain. So I stopped. But after a week time, I had severe chest pain and diagnosed that my blood started to clod in lungs. Now I have to take blood thinner 6 months. I’m only 34 years. Just thought to share my experience.

5 months after starting this pill I had a pulmonary embolism (blood clot in my lung) and nearly died! I was so lucky. I spent 2 weeks in hospital. A lot of people who have one die instantly :(

I was put on this pill due to my acne, within 4-5 months my acne has basically gone with only the odd spot appearing. I do think this pill somewhat effected my mood.

I loved being on Dianette, no more heavy periods, clear skin, moods were fine. I took it from age 16 until age 33 which I wouldn't recommend long term, only because of my experience with infertility now, I don't know if it was caused by long term pill use but If I had all the information that I do now I probably wouldn't take it for so long.

i was prescribed this at 15 as my acne was just awful, although this was the first thing prescribed, not antibiotics etc, which makes me think it wasnt thought through too well. since ive been on it for a while its difficult to notice if my bad moods and depressive states are just me or the pill, but im going to stop taking it to see if my mental health increases. my acne has improved. im still a bit spotty and it definitely did not take just a couple months to clear up, it took about 10-11 months to make a visible difference. before taking this tablet just keep a note of your depressive episodes and bad mood so you can compare it after you start the pill, because its really difficult to decipher otherwise...

I have been using this Pill for 6 months and have been prescribed it for another 3 months before I have to change to a new pill. I have been using this as my acne was pretty bad. This has helped my acne a lot!! I don't have any bad side effects with this pill at all. Although I would recommend taking your 7 day break with each packet, as on my first 3 months I took the pill non stop without my break and had extremely sore breasts every day!! Take your break :)

I cannot believe this is still being described when significant numbers have commented on its effects on mental health. I spent 3 years of my life on this pill with incessant mood swings and depression. When I switched to another pill all of that evaporated.

My doctor has prescribed this to me twice over the last couple years. The first time I came off due to large amount of weight gain. The second time I thought I would try and put my weight gain into perspective if the pill were to improve my skin. Since taking dianette my acne has been more controlled but I wouldn’t say I have perfect clear skin. My moods are low and I feel I am carrying an extra 5-10 pounds of water. I eat well and I’m very active so for me the extra weight is really frustrating. I’m coming off this pill this week and will be trying yasmin instead.

It took me a couple of months to realize that this made me sad, irrational and obsessive during and around my periods. I hardly had pms or any other issue before it. I really want to stop but I feel I need to be on another ocp. Blurry vision is another thing. It lasts a few fleeting seconds only though.
