I used the Nexplanon implant for nearly one year. I had it removed recently because I experienced constant, heavy bleeding, including period-like symptoms like cramping, bloating, back aches and breast tenderness. I liked not having to think about taking a pill everyday, but the negative side effects were awful and outweighed the benefit.

I haven’t been off of the birth control long enough to meaningfully answer whether my symptoms have resolved. I did notice bleeding in the days immediately after my implant removal. My arm remains sore at the implant site.
