FemCap is a barrier method of birth control. It is a circular dome made of plastic, that comes in different sizes. It is inserted into the vagina before sex and you need to use it with a gel that kills sperm called spermicide. It's a bit tricky to get the hang of, but some women love it due to the control and lack of hormones.

FemCap
I had to come off hormonal contraception due to health reasons so needed a barrier method. It was quite awkward to insert and always had to keep checking it in case it dislodged itself, was sometimes painful or uncomfortable, my partner could feel it. I was also using an approved spermicide with it but still became pregnant within a month of use.

How does the FemCap work?
FemCap is a brand of cervical cap which is a circular dome made of thin,
soft silicone that sits over the cervix to prevent sperm meeting an egg during sex. You need to use it with a gel that kills sperm called spermicide. The most common active ingredient of spermicides is nonoxynol-9.
