Does the combination birth control pill cause weight gaining?

I was put on Junel Fe 1/20 in college when I was underweight and not producing estrogen (I've since recovered from my eating issues and am at a much healthier weight) and I've had no issues with Junel. I don't get a period most months, and if I do have spotting, it's rarely during the time it's supposed to come, which I don't love. Besides that, no complaints!

I felt hungry all the time, gained weight (15 lbs over the 3 months I was on it), and had extremely elevated blood pressure which was not common for me — it was 140/96 at the highest, from the time I woke up to bed time. I had anxiety, high heart rate, and night terrors, again very uncommon for me.

I liked it for the first few months but I noticed that it was really affecting me negatively at around the 9 month mark. I started having heart palpitations and chest pains and my sex drive disappeared. I thought I was going crazy but I went off of it a few weeks ago and I’m already feeling more like myself.
