Does the combination birth control pill cause heavier periods?

I felt hungry all the time, gained weight (15 lbs over the 3 months I was on it), and had extremely elevated blood pressure which was not common for me — it was 140/96 at the highest, from the time I woke up to bed time. I had anxiety, high heart rate, and night terrors, again very uncommon for me.

I liked it for the first few months but I noticed that it was really affecting me negatively at around the 9 month mark. I started having heart palpitations and chest pains and my sex drive disappeared. I thought I was going crazy but I went off of it a few weeks ago and I’m already feeling more like myself.

I was excited about the low dose option for this birth control, but I was disappointed. I had frequent, long periods in the middle of packs and I have developed severe hormonal acne. I did not feel that my libido increased enough to make the low dose worth it.
