Portia is a combined pill that contains a standard dose of estrogen and a progestin called levonorgestrel which is one of the safest progestins to take. It's a really good option to try when you first start out with birth control as it has a lower risk of blood clots while keeping all of the benefits of the combined pill. It comes in a 28 day pack with 21 active pills containing the hormones, followed by 7 placebo pills which are a different colour. You will have a withdrawal bleed while taking these inactive pills.

I felt hungry all the time, gained weight (15 lbs over the 3 months I was on it), and had extremely elevated blood pressure which was not common for me — it was 140/96 at the highest, from the time I woke up to bed time. I had anxiety, high heart rate, and night terrors, again very uncommon for me.

Portia birth control pill  

I started taking this bc I have PMDD and also wanted to stop my period all together. I have no interest in getting pregnant. This pill was to stop my period and it did just that. I feel great on it.
