Lutera is a low estrogen birth control pill that contains a progestin called levonorgestrel, which may be more androgenic but has a low risk of blood clots compared to other progestins. The low level of estrogen can be great to improve nausea, headaches and mood swings. It comes in packs of 28 pills containing 21 days of active pills with the same level of each hormone, followed by 7 placebo pills with no hormones in that are a different colour. You will usually have a withdrawal bleed while taking these inactive pills.
