How to order the morning after pill from The Lowdown

Do I need the morning after pill?

The morning after pill is taken after unprotected sex to prevent pregnancy. Sex counts as ‘unprotected’ if…

  • No contraception is used
  • Contraception was used, but it failed e.g. a condom breaking
  • Contraception was not used correctly e.g. a missed pill (you can use our missed pill calculator to find out whether you need to use emergency contraception)

If any of these situations apply to you, you may need to take the morning after pill. The morning after pill should only be used for emergencies, not as a long term form of contraception as it’s not as reliable.
