After having 2 children in my late 30s my monthly cycle was really bothering me and affecting my ability to be a good mum. My premenstral week each cycle was wrecked by low energy, low motivation, low self esteem and banging headaches that left me laying on the floor with my two small boys climbing on me wondering why mummy was being so useless. We don't want to have any more children so I decided to go on the pill to try to even things out a bit. In order to break the monthly cycle I take the pills in a pattern where I take 3 packets back to back without a break, then have a break for 3 days and then start taking the pills again. I am currently on my third type of pill and I'm quite happy with it. It's called Femodene/Millinette (ethinylestradiol, gestodene). On this pill I have a bit more sexual response compared with the others I tried. I feels like it's working with my body rather than against it. I generally feel more normal, with no negative side effects while I'm taking the pills. During the break I have some womb cramps on day 1 and light bleeding that continues for a couple of days after I restart the pills. I can feel a bit hormonal on day 2, and on day 3 I have a headache which is manageable with paracetamol.
