Copper coil (IUD)

The insertion itself was fine, uncomfortable but not painful. For the 6 months I had the IUD; I experienced cramping every day from ovulation till the end of my period every month. Also during this 6 months the IUD strings became very short as the IUD settled into my uterus, when they reached only a few mm long they caused me pain and discomfort to during sex. I had to be examined multiple times due to these issues, in a few consultations the clinician used a speculum too large for me causing me a lot of pain. Ultimately I had the IUD removed because it was causing too much pain, discomfort and frustration.

Experience coming off Copper coil (IUD)

My periods went back to normal straight away and I stopped getting skin irritation and thrush. Even after having the IUD removed, I felt dissociation with my entire pelvic region for about 6 months after removal, I couldn't bear to be touched by my partner or myself because of how uncomfortable I found the many examinations,
