I chose the Copper coil after a bad experience on the mini pill and wanted something hormone free! The insertion of the IUD was like a very painful smear but for me bearable. Afterwards I felt very lightheaded and hot in temperature (I would recommend taking someone with you so they can take you home!) and had severe cramps to the point where I had to do deep breathing to help. This lasted for the afternoon and by the next day I had light cramps and I was very bloated. I’ve had it in for 3 months now, my periods are definitely heavier and a bit more painful, and I also experience a bit more bloating than normal. I have seen a difference in my skin, however I think this is due to coming off the pill and my hormones are still adjusting. My skin is definitely more oily than before. My sex drive has increased however I think this is due to me feeling bloated and a bit more crampy. Overall I’m definitely happy with it! I think it just takes a couple of months to get used to. I love how I don’t even have to think about it!
