I really enjoyed this contraception having switched from progesterone only to the combined pill, however I did develop migraines with aura which I have previously never had in my life before which is the only reason I was advised to not take this pill/ type of pill any more. This is a shame as I had increased sex drive and regular periods and it did not cause me to have mood swings like the progesterone only pill.

This is my first combined pill I’ve been prescribed and has been a life saver for my PMDD, I wake up everyday feeling level now instead of caught in a horrible cycle of depression and anxiety. I get a pretty bad migraine on my break days but I was getting a lot more each month before so it still seems like an improvement. My breasts have grown and are quite tender but it doesn’t bother me that much, think it’s reduced my sex drive a little bit again not enough to bother me and outweigh the pros… I just hope it stays like this and I don’t get any new side effects!

I took the 3x pack back to back to help with suspected endometriosis. After about 5 months I felt it was really impacting my mood. I felt really flat all the time and really down. As soon as I came off the pill I felt so much better and lost quite a bit of bloating weight. I would not recommend this contraceptive. Following this I got the hormonal coil fitted which has been so much better

Was fine at the start when taking this pill but eventually I lost my sex drive completely, had vaginal dryness, and a loss of appetite including nausea most of the time. However, my skin was still good, and my periods were lighter/the same while taking it.

Been using this pill for 6 years and it’s the only one I’ve tried. It has definitely helped with periods and cleared up acne unless having a week off. Did gain some weight and have a lot of trouble losing it. I believe this pill is one of the main causes of a depression diagnosis and causes a lot of headaches/migraines and mood swings.

Best pill i have tried, it has cleared up all of my acne and kept me from getting pregnant for two years. The only bad thing about this pill is I get severe fatigue, low mood and a low drive. The plus side is I have lost a lot of weight on it (nearly 3 stone). It has slowed down my appetite and I no longer binge eat. I also do not experience any spotting with these. When I tried to stop using them, I realised how much the pill keeps my hormones steady as my head was all over the place (crying then angry then happy) so I started them again and it sorted that out.

Taking this pill was fine for the first few months, after a while it made me totally depressed and I would cry at the smallest thing. Also caused a huge loss of sex drive which stopped as soon as I stopped taking it. Would not recommend

I was on the mini pill Cerelle for 6 weeks and out of 5 weeks I was bleeding heavily for 4 and a half weeks. I booked a consultation and the doctor called me up and we went through a lot of questions. She really tried to understand my body and see what could work much better as it clearly was the wrong contraception for me. She prescribed Gedarel 30/150 as she was certain I need combined pill due to the heavily periods and the bleeding from the mini pill. It’s been 12 days(nearly 2 weeks) I have started the combined pill and I am so happy I did that. I have stopped bleeding, my sex drive is back on top again and feeling so much better. The first 3-4 days of taking the pill was a b it hard as I was switching the hormones and my body was trying to cope. I have started taking the pill in the morning causing stomach aches. I was suggested to take the pill with food such as banana, yogurt or toast. It did wonders. Really helped the burning tummy. I have very very little cramps once a day but it all started to go away. I also had leg cramps the first few days, but once again I took the doctors advice and used some creams and special high socks to avoid blood clots to develop. Overall I am very very happy so far. No mood swings, no bleeding, my sex drive is high that makes my partner and I happy. I made the right choice to speak to the doctor and find the right contraception. I suggest all woman should try different methods and honestly speak to their doctors if they feel like the current method is not working. First I was told by the first doctor to keep taking the mini pill and I knew it’s not okay to bleed this much. That’s why I got a second opinion and that doctor was phenomenal. Please do not let ANY doctor prescribe anything without truly asking questions and trying to understand you. Good luck ladies
